About Us
Ken and Kathy Carroll put up their first greenhouse in 1993 on these four acres where Kathy grew up. Kathy’s family purchased this land in 1940, and Kathy has lived here for all but 15 years of her life. She says she “chose not to fly too far from the nest.” Probably, as you’ll agree, because it’s such a very nice nest!
Ken and Kathy love to help people with their gardening and landscaping problems and needs, as well as enjoying stories and photos of their customer’s annual successes. Ken is the tree expert, with deep knowledge in most things deciduous, conifer, flowering or fruiting. Kathy has personal favorites in the nursery, too, but as with many beloved offspring, what those favorites are change from season to season.
Kathy and Ken like asking the important questions to optimize your planting success. From “How much sun or shade will this have?” to “What kind of soil will you be using?” and “Is this likely to get a lot of TLC, or should we look for something a little more low-maintenance?”, customers seem to appreciate their honest assessments. Very reasonable prices and a willingness to track down and order plants that are requested but not on site are also reasons why so many customers have been returning since their 1993 start to K’s Nursery.
Kathy buys vegetable garden seed in bulk and then passes that savings on to you by pre-packaging it in quantities that make sense for the home gardener. Seed potatoes and onion sets are springtime planting favorites, along with quality potting soil and steer manure. A solid selection of vegetables, baskets, bedding plants, grasses and perennials as well as fruit and berry plants and vines, evergreen and deciduous shrubs and pond plants make the nursery a fascinating place for budding gardeners to wander and for dreams to take root.
Children are welcome, as K’s has a swing set for the younger set, and well-behaved dogs will find a fresh bowl of water readily available.
Come say hello to Kathy and Ken, bring the kids, your planting “wish list” and some time to stroll. You’ll want to relish how your very own garden will be soon be growing.
